As both a researcher and artist, Kasia Ozga has worked on many commissions and collaborative projects with groups including Park in Progress, World Event Young Artists and Muralla Nomada. She has also participated in residencies in France (Abbadia, Shakers), Italy (AreaOdeon), and Spain (Casa de Vélazquez) and have worked on public art projects and collaborations in many urban contexts.
Switch Stance is supported by an R&D Grant from the European Cultural Foundation (ECF). International partner organisations include Engage Liverpool (New Bird Skatepark, Liverpool), Ex Caserma Liberata (Bari, Italy) and Kaspian (Petržalka area of Bratislava, Slovakia). These partners work for social change on a grassroots level by creating opportunities for youth and promoting environmental assets. They will contribute in-kind by helping to organise workshops and events at each site.
By locating the SwitchStance project in urban skate-parks across Europe, I hope to both respond to local conditions and to compare how these questions arise and foster dialogue, in different cultural contexts.
By concentrating on existing, designated parks in mid-scale cities with a strong local skating culture, I hope to have a greater impact than would be possible in existing cosmopolitan capitals.
